Summer time is quickly approaching and ticks and mosquitoes are already a nuisance.
Bites from ticks and mosquitoes can make you sick. Preventing bites is the best way to protect yourself and loved ones.
We strive to help our community to stay safe and healthy. Crawford County Health Department is launching a new program called Fight the Bite to help with prevention of the rising cases of tick and mosquito borne diseases.
Repellant with 0.5% permethrin is most effective.
We will be giving away repellant and tick remover kits while supplies last.
It is vitally important to apply the repellant properly. DO NOT apply repellant to your skin. Apply only to clothing, shoes and gear.
In addition to using repellant, check yourself, your children, and your pets for ticks after spending time outdoors. Removing ticks promptly and taking steps to prevent bites can greatly reduce your risk of illness. Stop by the Crawford County Health Department to pick up your free prevention supplies while available to help Fight the Bite this summer.
