At approximately 9:30 AM, Garfield Fire and EMS were requested for Automatic Mutual Aid to Hudson Township for a vehicle vs. train, with entrapment. Upon arrival, fire personnel assisted Hudson township with patient extrication of the trapped driver. The train operators were uninjured. Both occupants were transported to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital by Luce County Ambulance and Garfield Township Ambulance.

All units cleared the scene around 11:00 AM.

Michigan State Police

THANK YOU! GTFD was recently awarded a $10,000.00 grant from Graymont. These funds will be used to assist the township in purchasing 16 sets of new turnout gear.

Did you know Turnout Gear (Firefighter Personal Protective Equipment) is required to be replaced every 10 years, regardless of condition or use? The average cost is approximately $4,500.00 per firefighter.

We remember.

Your Firefighters from Garfield Township and surrounding area fire departments participated in Liquid Propane Gas Emergency class last night here in Engadine. This class was put on free of charge by Michigan Propane Gas Association. Garfield Township was 1 of only 8 locations across the State of Michigan to host the class this year.

Capt. Hopper and Lt. Dailey are giving back to the community in more ways than just responding to emergencies. Tonight they are assisting Engadine Consolidated Schools by bringing much needed water to the football field.
