Operation Spring Cleanup!
Multi-Agency “Operation Spring Cleaning” Nets Drugs, Guns, DWI Charges Across Halifax Region
A large-scale law enforcement operation led by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department resulted in nearly 200 traffic stops, multiple arrests, drug seizures, firearm recoveries, and a wide range of criminal charges during a coordinated enforcement effort across Northeastern North Carolina.
According to a news release issued Monday by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department, “Operation Spring Cleaning” was conducted on May 8, 2026, with support from 15 agencies across the region.
Officials said the operation was made possible through extensive planning and coordination by members of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department and the Halifax County Communications Center.
Participating agencies included law enforcement and public safety partners from across Eastern North Carolina, including the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, Rocky Mount Police Department, Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina Highway Patrol, Enfield Police Department, Weldon Police Department, Garysburg Police Department, and several other local and regional agencies.
During the operation, officers conducted 187 traffic stops and issued a total of 158 charges, including:
* 148 traffic violations
* Felony Possession of Schedule VI
* Possession With Intent to Sell/Deliver Ma*****na
* Ma*****na Paraphernalia
* Fugitive Order
* Misdemeanor Child Abuse
* Possession of Firearm by Felon
* PWISD Schedule II
* Possession of Schedule II
* Felony Flee to Elude Arrest
* Injury to Personal Property
* Open Container Violation
Authorities also reported:
* 7 arrests
* 2 fi****ms seized
* 3 Orders for Arrest served
* 2 Warrants for Arrest served
* 3 DWI charges
* 14 grams of crack co***ne seized
* 155 grams of ma*****na seized
* $611 in cash seized
In the release, Roanoke Rapids Police Chief L. Wiggins thanked the chiefs, sheriffs, and officers who participated in the operation and said similar saturation patrols will continue throughout the year.
“Anytime intoxicated drivers, felons in possession of fi****ms, and illegal narcotics are taken off the streets, that is someone’s family member who possibly got a reprieve on life,” Wiggins stated.
As always, all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
