When you see flashing lights and hear a siren, every second matters. 🚨

If an emergency vehicle is approaching with lights and sirens activated, you are required to safely move to the right side of the roadway and come to a complete stop until it has passed. This allows police, fire, and EMS personnel to respond quickly to emergencies where lives may be at risk.

Here’s what to do:
🔹 Stay calm and check your surroundings
🔹 Use your signal and safely move to the right
🔹 Come to a complete stop
🔹 Do not block intersections
🔹 Do not follow closely behind the emergency vehicle

Failing to yield to an emergency vehicle is not only dangerous, it’s against the law. Drivers who do not move over can be issued an infraction, which may result in fines. More importantly, not yielding can delay critical emergency response and put others in danger.

It took three firefighters almost three minutes to fully clean around this hydrant for unobstructed access to each hookup. That’s three minutes that could instead be spent putting water on a house fire.

If there’s a hydrant on or near your property, help us help you and please clean around it.

*Contractors at commercial properties, please help us out and do the same!*

Stay safe Hazardville!
