Community Notification: This post is being made for community awareness in the interest of keeping everyone safe. In October 2024, the police department and community were made aware of an incident that resulted in a Fed Ex delivery driver being severely injured by three dogs at a property here in the village. The employee was mauled when attempting to deliver packages to the residence. The Village of Endeavor Board, in partnership with the police department, designated the animals to be a threat to the safety of the community and under village ordinance ordered the owner to remove the animals from the community. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution. Our concern was for anyone who may inadvertently enter the property if the dogs are outside (a child retrieving a ball for instance). The owner complied with this order and for a period of time the animals were kept out of the community. The dogs reappeared on one occasion and in my discussion with the owner, I explained that if he could not abide by the order, the village would need to take possession of the dogs. He told me he understood and agreed to once again comply.
However, earlier today I learned the dogs are again back at the residence. The address is 406 N. Academy Blvd. I will be contacting our village attorney next week, and seeking remedies in circuit court for noncompliance. This is not a post against dogs or the owner. This post was made because my priority has to be the protection of the community. I cannot take someone's "word" that the animals are not dangerous, and it won't happen again.
