June “Everyday Hero” – Hunter McCorgary
Hunter began attending Hetlinger in February of this year, alongside his sister, Taverli, as they both started services with us at the same time. Since day one, Hunter has truly enjoyed being part of the Hetlinger community.
One of Hunter’s favorite activities is spending time outdoors, especially participating in our Horticultural Therapy program. In preparation for our recent plant sale, Hunter worked diligently in the greenhouse alongside fellow participants and our Horticultural Therapist, Andrea Salsbury, helping care for and prepare the many flowers and plants that were sold. He takes great pride in his work and enjoys seeing the results of his hard work come to life.
Hunter has built many meaningful friendships at Hetlinger and especially values the community inclusion opportunities our organization provides. This summer, he will also have the opportunity to work at the Carnivore Café at the Emporia Zoo with support from Christine Sullivan and our Employment Services team.
When asked what he enjoys most about coming to Hetlinger, Hunter shared, “I love being here. It is a fun place to be each day. I really enjoy the greenhouse and playing basketball.” Outside of Hetlinger, Hunter enjoys spending time with his family, helping with lawn work, chopping wood, and playing sports with friends. We are so grateful to have Hunter as part of the Hetlinger family. Thank you for being an Everyday Hero, Hunter!
