The Lyon County Highway Department will be closing Road 150 between Road E and Road F on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, for a bridge deck replacement.

The road will remain closed until the project is complete.

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for our area until September 8th at 7:00 p.m.

Please use caution if outdoors for extended periods of time, and make sure to stay hydrated. With heat index values up to 108 degrees, watch for heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

As always, check your car for children and animals before you lock the door.

Update 2:43 pm: both Eastbound and Westbound traffic are able to get under the overpass. Crews are still on scene, so please use caution when going through the area.

At this time the Turnpike is still open to traffic, both northbound and southbound.

Original post: Please avoid the 4200 block of Hwy 50 by Flying Js truck stop. Responders are working a wreck where an oversized load struck the KTA overpass bridge.

These roads are now open.

The Lyon County Highway Department will be closing Road J between Road 150 and Road 160 on Monday, August 17, 2026 for a reclamation project.

Road 150 from Road J to Highway 99 will be closed at this time as well.

Back to school safety:

School is almost back, which means more kids walking, running, biking, riding buses, and crossing the street. Let’s all do our part to keep them safe!

Slow down in school zones, watch for pedestrians, avoid distractions, and stop for school buses displaying its flashing red lights and stop arm.
