The invasive garlic mustard plant pulling season is coming to an end. It’s not too late, but the dumpster the Village has rented for its disposal will be picked up in a week.

The Village is replacing the old sticker type resident beach passes with hanging tags. We also have new stickers for golf carts and mopeds.

If you live in the Village, you may pick up your new passes at the Village Office.

Memorial Day Weekend at the Lively NeighborFood Market

Hello Neighbors,

We are delighted Memorial Day Weekend is here! It's the unofficial start to the summer season, and our little town really starts to come alive. We have a few updates and reminders for you going into the weekend!

Memorial Day Weekend Hours
Friday, May 22: 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 23: 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, May 24: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Monday, May 25: CLOSED
Tuesday, May 26: 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Events

Saturday, May 23: Open Mic at the Market begins at 6:30 p.m. Musicians, singer-songwriters, storytellers, spoken word folks, bring us your creativity and let's share in it with neighbors for our Saturday night tradition!

Sunday, May 24th: Annual NeighborFest from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Our wonderful fundraising event NeighborFest is back for another year this Memorial Day Weekend on Sunday, May 24 from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. We hope you'll join us for this afternoon of music, food, and community togetherness to raise funds and support two local organizations near and dear to us: (EACC) Empire Area Community Center and LIFT Leelanau Investing For Teens. We'll have delicious picnic food for sale, and a rotating lineup of local musicians to keep you entertained! All proceeds go towards LIFT and EACC.

This event is BYOB! Please drink responsibly as this is a family-friendly event

We love your dogs, but please leave them at home for NeighborFest.

Please bring your own lawn chair or picnic blanket, we have picnic tables to enjoy food.

Empire Village Residents:
PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
Village Council will conduct a public hearing on May 26, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Empire Township Hall, 10088 W. Front St., Empire, MI 49630. The purpose of the hearing is to hear public comments regarding proposed Village Water Ordinance, Sidewalks Ordinance and Beach Park Ordinance amendments. Copies of the proposed amendments are available for public inspection in the Clerk’s Office at 11537 W. Leelanau Hwy., Empire, MI. Public comments, either oral or written, are welcome at the Public Hearing. Persons needing assistance or aid should contact the Empire Village Office during regular working hours forty-eight hours prior to the meeting (231) 326-5466.
