The Auxiliary members consist of community members who are interested in raising funds for the Vigilant Hose Company, which is an all-volunteer fire/rescue company. Auxiliary members can be anyone involved in the community however many members consist of mothers, wives, daughters and sisters of the members of the volunteer fire department. Many fundraising activities are conducted throughout the y
ear and staffed by volunteer members of the Auxiliary. Some of these fundraisers include sportsman’s drawings, bingos, raffles, breakfasts, flower sales, bake sales, etc. The funds raised through the Auxiliary are in turn donated (stated in By-Laws that funds are only able to be donated to the fire department however the Auxiliary my purchase items needed to run functions) to the Vigilant Hose Company which is an all-volunteer fire/rescue department providing services throughout Frederick and Carroll Counties in Maryland, as well as Adams, Franklin, and Washington Counties in Pennsylvania. Funds raised by the Auxiliary are presented to the fire department at the annual awards banquet in January of each year. In addition, the fire department itself has many fundraising activities in which Auxiliary members assist. It is because of the many fundraising activities put on by both the Auxiliary and the fire department that the fire department can continue to operate with minimal county-funding assistance. Members of this all volunteer fire department are available to assist members of the community and surrounding communities in a time of need. The Auxiliary do not currently have its own website however there is a website for the fire service side. Please visit www.vhc6.com
