The Boise District BLM is currently fighting a wildfire near Luck Peak Reservoir. Fire crews are working hard to get containment lines around the fire and to stop the progress.

Today we went to investigate smoke coming up outside of town. With a burn ban in effect we figured someone didn't know about it and figured we would let them know. About a half mile from the residence we heard the call out for a active brush fire. Upon arrival we could see the flames were very active and spreading rapidly. I grabbed my hand tool and headed down the hill and met up with the home owner and started cutting along the flames edge. We got a lot knocked down with what we had. County fire arrived on scene about 8 minutes later. Between all of us the fire was quickly extinguished and mop up began. It shows with all this rain we have had conditions are still very dry. A single spark from a lawnmower started this blaze. We were happy to be there and help someone in this time of need.
