We all knew this guy was bad. Did the public know how bad? You know who DID know how bad? You guessed it. MAGA.
The national MAGAs have made a career of covering up rap**ts, and promoting predators.
The problem isn’t simply that they don’t care about our vulnerable people, the problem is they actively and happily inflict pain and trauma on our most vulnerable people.
Here’s what “freedom” looked like for Matt Gaetz: a teenage girl, forced to sell her body to buy braces, while a powerful congressman saw only an opportunity for himself.
According to a bipartisan House Ethics Committee report released this winter, investigators found “substantial evidence” that then-Representative Matt Gaetz paid cash to a 17-year-old girl for s*x at parties fueled by drugs and alcohol — all while she was scrambling to save for orthodontic work because her family couldn’t afford it. The girl, described in court documents as homeless and desperate for money to fix her teeth, told The New York Times that Gaetz—along with other powerful men—gave her a way out, but only through exploitation.
The details are nauseating. At a 2017 party, after s*x, the girl received $400 from Gaetz — “which she understood to be payment for s*x,” according to the House probe, and corroborated by multiple witnesses. She was under 18. Investigators uncovered records of Gaetz paying more than $90,000 to a dozen women while serving in Congress. One of these girls explicitly testified she needed money for basic medical care — braces for her teeth.
This isn’t about party lines or petty politics. It’s about power, predation, and who gets ignored when the powerful cover for their own. Where does a teenage girl turn when the only way to save her smile is selling herself to elected officials? When did survival become a luxury reserved for the wealthy?
As one witness told the House: “The parties were a blur of older men and young women, drugs everywhere. I couldn’t say no. I needed the money — I needed braces.” According to the BBC, almost every woman who spoke to investigators said drugs or alcohol left them unable to truly consent.
Let’s name this for what it is: cruelty hiding behind privilege. The rules are supposed to protect our children, not allow the rich and powerful to buy their innocence. The fact that this girl’s only path to medical care was through exploitation is a national disgrace.
The America we believe in doesn’t sacrifice girls’ futures for a congressman’s pleasure. If you’re angry, you’re paying attention. Share this — not just to expose what happened, but to demand a world where no child has to sell herself just to afford a healthy smile. We deserve leaders who protect the vulnerable, not prey on them.
