đŸŒ» Celebrating the Heart of Our Community! 👏

Today, we are taking a moment to send a massive THANK YOU to our incredible team of volunteers at J-Sei Community Center!

Our volunteers go above and beyond every single day to bring joy, support, and connection to older adults throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Whether they are delivering meals, driving seniors to appointments, or just lending a listening ear to one of our seniors, we simply couldn't do this without you.

Please join us in celebrating these local heroes in the comments below! âŹ‡ïžđŸ’™

Interested in joining this amazing crew? Learn more about our opportunities in the images attached, and don’t forget to visit our website for a full list of all of our volunteer opportunities: https://j-sei.org/volunteer/. We are especially interested in those looking to help as a Senior Nutrition Kitchen Volunteer or driver, or as a Friendly Visitor & Caller to visit our seniors in person, so please let us know if you or anyone you know might be interested in helping those teams!

Hi J-Sei community members. Today is the last day of QWOCMAP - Q***r Women of Color Media Arts Project's ! Join in the festivities for one last day/night.

First we have another set of films, called “Q***r Families Belong”. These six films will focus on who counts as family, and who gets to define it. The event will be from *12:00pm-2:00pm*. Following the film screenings will be QWOCMAP’s reception, celebrating 26 years of QWOCMAP doing what we do best: showing up, speaking out, and making space on our own terms. This year’s vibe? We Resist & We Roll. That means joy as protest, movement as power, and every space is a dance floor! It will take place from *2:00pm-4:00pm* at the Presidio Theatre Outdoor Plaza in San Francisco. Come out and celebrate in whatever way feels most like you. However, don’t party too hard as there are still two sets of films to watch! After the reception will be QWOCMAP’s featured screening of “A Litany For Survival”, a newly restored documentary about poet, teacher, mother, Black le***an, activist, and warrior Audre Lorde. The film will be shown from *4:00pm-6:00pm*. Finally, the evening will conclude with the closing night screening, “Q***r Asian Spirit” from *7:00pm-10:00pm*. This particular set of films is important not only as the conclusion to QWOCMAP’s festival, but also to J-Sei, as we are a community partner for this event. (See attached images for a full list of community sponsors for closing program screening). These six films ask what it means to carry a history forward and make it yours.

All events for the day/evening will take place at the Presidio Theater in San Francisco.

Visit their website for a full list of films, and buy your *FREE* tickets if you haven’t already done so: https://qwocmap.org/festival/schedule/ .
