Scammers are targeting everyone but are preying on older adults through phone calls, texts, and emails—and many of these scams look shockingly legitimate. They often pretend to be from trusted organizations like banks, government agencies, or even family members.🛑 To stay safe, remember:✔️ Don’t rush—scammers rely on panic and confusion.✔️ Verify the sender by calling the business or person directly using a number you trust. Do NOT open links.✔️ Never send money, gift cards, or personal information✔️ Be wary of anyone asking for secrecy—real organizations don’t ask you to keep things quiet.✔️Report the fraudulent activity to your local police department as soon as possible. 👀 Spot the signs of someone who may already be a victim:🔺Sudden secrecy or defensiveness about phone or internet use🔺Unusual bank withdrawals or gift card purchases🔺New “friendships” or romantic interests online🔺Reluctance to talk about financial decisions Scams don’t just steal money—they steal trust. Protect yourself and check in with loved ones regularly.

Great Police Work & Community Effort!

Earlier today, officers responded to multiple calls about an armed robbery at a local family coffee shop. The suspect, armed with a pole, was attempting to flee when community members stepped in to help contain him until police arrived.

Thanks to quick action from both citizens and officers, the suspect was safely taken into custody without incident. He was arrested for robbery and two additional violent felony warrants from surrounding agencies.

Shoutout to our community for looking out for each other! 👏

EBMUD Protocol:
🚫 No Unscheduled Visits: EBMUD workers may inform you of neighborhood repairs but will never request entry into your home.
📆 Scheduled Appointments Only: Official visits, such as plumbing inspections or water tests, are always pre-arranged.
🪪 Identification: Employees carry an ID badge with their name, photo, and employee number. They also drive clearly marked EBMUD vehicles.
💧 Safe Drinking Water: Your water meets or exceeds all health and safety standards. For details, visit ebmud.com/waterquality.
