Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI) Joint BioEnergy Institute's mission is to advance the development of liquid fuels derived from solar energy stored in plant biomass. Repost ≠ Endorsement

The Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI) is a San Francisco Bay Area scientific partnership led by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) and includes the Sandia National Laboratories (Sandia), the University of California (UC) campuses of Berkeley and Davis, the Carnegie Institution for Science, and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). JBEI’s primary scientific mission is

to advance the development of the next generation of biofuels – liquid fuels derived from the solar energy stored in plant biomass. JBEI is one of three U.S. Department of Energy Bioenergy Research Centers (BRCs).

Following the COVID-19 shelter in place, Berkeley Lab is taking a cautious, thoughtful approach to bringing a limited number of staff back on-site with new safety measures in effect.

See & hear participants in the Pilot 1 cohort, including researchers at JBEI, share their stories:

During Berkeley Lab's first week of return to work on June 1-5, 2020, employees practiced new safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on site.
