🎉 Our staff spotlight is back ‼️

We are highlighting one of our newest hires, in a new position, Whitney K. !She is our Client Service Representative here at Elyria Animal Hospital, please read about her below. Please give her a warm welcome! We feel that it’s important and also comforting to know and see who your pet is in the care of ❤️

Whitney is one of our newest team members and came into a newly created position of Customer Service Representative here at Elyria Animal Hospital in July 2026. She is a 2-year Zoology student at Unity Environmental University where she is focusing on Wildlife Conservation and Animal Behavior. She has grown up her whole life around animals; caring for them, training them, and loving on them. She started working at a dog kennel and when she was 11 helped with their care, grooming, and training. Her family has been breeding Cavaliers since 2014, where being able to have the responsibility of having a new, precious life in her hands gave her a sense of purity. She has one Cavalier now, Freya, who is her pride and joy and a retired mama. She also has a 29-year-old quarter horse named Skip, and a goat named Dakota. Her animals were able to teach her a great deal of knowledge throughout her life. Outside of work, she enjoys going to the gym, watching her shows, hiking, traveling, wildlife photography, and painting! When she completes her degree, she plans on doing conservation field work in Africa for a year to learn animals’ natural behavior in their natural habitats. Then, when she is ready to work in a zoo, she can apply her knowledge to better the animals’ well-being and life; where it is truly like they are home in the wild! Her biggest lesson in life is God always has a plan no matter the path he takes you, you will get there!

⛳️💚 TEAM BONDING AT TOPGOLF! 💚⛳️

Last weekend, our Elyria Animal Hospital crew traded in the stethoscopes and scrubs for golf clubs and a little friendly competition at Topgolf! 🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️

Working in veterinary medicine takes an incredible amount of teamwork. Every day, our doctors, technicians, assistants, receptionists, and support staff rely on one another to provide the best possible care for our patients and their families. That’s why we believe it’s so important to make time to connect outside of the hospital, too. ❤️

Team bonding gives us a chance to laugh together, relax, strengthen friendships, and enjoy each other’s company without the ringing phones and busy appointment schedule. Those relationships help us communicate better, support one another through the hard days, and celebrate the good ones together.

We spend A LOT of time together, and somewhere along the way, coworkers become friends and friends become family. 🥰

We’re incredibly grateful for this crew and for the opportunity to spend an evening having fun together. We are missing a few members, including Dr. O’Roark, and even had to evacuate for a Tornado Warning. However, there were plenty of laughs, some questionable golf swings 😂, good food, and great memories made!

Because taking care of our team helps our team take even better care of your family. 🐾❤️

✨ NEW TECHNOLOGY + CONTINUED EDUCATION = BETTER CARE FOR YOUR PETS! ✨🐾

We’re excited to share another investment we’ve made in providing the best possible care for our patients — our new ultrasound machine! 🎉

Dr. Eric Allie was already well-versed and experienced in ultrasound, but we believe there is always more to learn in veterinary medicine. Recently, Dr. Allie and our Registered Veterinary Technician, Lexie, underwent specialized, hands-on ultrasound training to further expand their knowledge, sharpen their skills, and help us provide even more in-depth diagnostic care right here in our hospital.

We partnered with WAVE (We Are Veterinary Excellence), who provided a specialized ultrasound technician to spend a full day in our office working one-on-one with our team. They were able to practice and learn using some of our wonderful staff pets — along with a couple of our beloved “frequent flyers” who know us a little too well! 😂❤️

Having advanced ultrasound capabilities in our hospital gives our doctors another valuable tool to look beyond what we can see on the outside. Ultrasound can provide detailed, real-time images of internal organs and structures and can play an important role in diagnosing and monitoring a variety of conditions — often without the need for more invasive procedures.

But investing in new equipment is only part of the equation.

At Elyria Animal Hospital, we believe that investing in our doctors and technicians is just as important as investing in the latest technology. Providing our team with specialized continuing education and hands-on training allows us to get the most out of the tools we have and continue raising the level of medicine we can provide.

Our goal is always to keep learning, keep improving, and continue bringing top-of-the-line veterinary care to the pets and families who trust us every day.

We’re so proud of Dr. Allie and Lexie for continuing to expand their skills, and we can’t wait to put all that new knowledge — and our new ultrasound machine — to work! 💙🩺🐾

🐾 Hi guys, meet Tiny! 🐾

Tiny may be very tiny, but he’s already taking his flea and tick prevention seriously! 🥹❤️

Tiny has heard all about the flea and tick problems we’ve been seeing here in Lorain County and wanted to get protected as soon as possible. 🦟🚫

One of the great things about the prescription flea and tick preventatives we carry here in the clinic and through our online pharmacy is that there are options available for pets who are young and very small, just like Tiny!

Starting prevention early helps protect your pet from fleas and ticks—and the diseases and other problems they can carry. And remember: flea and tick prevention isn’t just for the summer! These pesky parasites can continue to be a concern well into the cooler months.

Not sure which preventative is appropriate for your pet based on their age, weight, and lifestyle? Give us a call! Our team at Elyria Animal Hospital would be happy to help you find the right option. 🐾💕

Tiny says: Being tiny is no excuse for letting fleas win!
