Lorain County Conservation District provides leadership in a partnership effort to help people conserve, maintain, and improve the natural resources and environment in Lorain County. We always prepare to receive a load of by setting out a bed of green waste to unload it on.

That green waste helps absorb excess moisture and provides the structure needed for a healthy process. Once the food waste is unloaded, we blend the materials with a loader, then run the mixture through a grinder to create a more consistent feedstock before it ever reaches a windrow.

Good starts long before a pile begins to heat up. It starts with getting the mix right!
