A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect as well.

There is now an ENHANCED RISK (level 3 of 5) for severe weather across parts of Northeast OH and Northwest PA for later today. Confidence is increasing in a cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms moving southeast across the area this evening. Damaging winds are expected to be the primary severe weather threat with these storms. Flash flooding, isolated hail, and perhaps a brief tornado are also possible.

While some management went to play with helicopters at Metro Life Flight in Cleveland on tuesday, Director Scholl was in Columbus attending the Motorola Solutions trade show held at Ohio State Stadium. Director got to meet Buckeye Brutus, walk on the new turf field and tour the facility. No pictures were allowed to be taken in the Buckeyes locker room, but a very impressive tour.
Thank you Motorola Solutions for an excellent show and meeting and also the OSU Redcoats for the tour.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Metro Life Flight Dispatch Center. While there we met several of the dispatchers, toured the ED, and got to check out the helipad. Best of all, we got to see Deputy Director Davis rappel from a chopper!

Just kidding! 🤣😉

The whole purpose of our visit was to find ways to make our communication with Metro Life Flight easier and more efficient. We want to be able to get requests out faster while keeping our dispatchers off the phone as much as possible. This allows them to stay focused on what matters most—being available and ready to help our residents and visitors when they need us.

On August 21st, one of our dispatchers received an emergency call from an expectant mother whose water had broken. He handled the call with professionalism, compassion, and calm under pressure until he encountered a technical issue and needed assistance.

Without hesitation, his partner, Dispatcher Samantha Deighton, jumped into action. She seamlessly took over the call, quickly assessed the situation, and provided childbirth instructions. Within minutes of picking up the call, Samantha guided the caller and this now mother of three through the safe delivery of her beautiful baby boy!

Congratulations to Mom on the arrival of your newest little one! 💙

Outstanding work Samantha! Shout out to the initial dispatcher too for quickly realizing assistance was needed.

And, of course… Happy Birthday to this sweet baby boy! 🎉👶

We had some visitors trying to interfere with our radio signals or maybe just airing out their wings because of the humidity. Whatever the reason…it was an odd sight, them just sitting on our tower, all spread eagle, pun intended! 😂 👀 🦅

Shout out to everyone who handled this call. I couldn't be more proud of the dispatchers from Platoons B and D. From the first phone call, to getting mutual aid, and keeping track of all the trucks on the board, they truly showed what this agency is capable of during a mass casualty event, while still handling regular 911 calls.

Dispatchers Tucker, Hoover, Liles, Connell, Fay, Thompson, Nowak, Horton, Deighton, Smith, Eging, and Stuper all stepped up.

Supervisors Trifiletti and Midkiff led a coordinated effort, and made sure the job got done efficiently and effectively.

Great work team, and great work to all the responding agencies in the field.
