We talk a lot about preventing spills and properly disposing of trash. Plastics are often seen by many of us as an eye-sore and a blockage on grates. This film shows that there is more to it than what we see with our eyes.

Plastic pollution affects more than what we can see. Ripples of Plastic reveals how microplastics move through the Great Lakes region and impact both the environment and human health. Watch this nationally recognized documentary on Sat., Jan. 17, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at French Creek Nature Center, followed by a discussion with local conservation professionals. Lorain County Ohio Government - Lorain County Ohio Government – Tuesday the District Board was presented with a Stormwater District Budget of $2,478,506.78. After discussions of the Proposed Budget the Board moved to reduce the funding for new District Directed Projects by $133,000. The rest of the Budget was left unchanged preserving the level of service and resources available to the Townships in grants and assistance as well as the funding for the State’s Stormwater compliance requirements as expressed in the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System Permit (NPDES). The Board also reaffirmed their funding commitment to the District of the previously pledged ARPA funds to fund stormwater infrastructure projects such as the recently approved Mason Lateral #1 project that is out to bid now. Furthermore, Commissioner David Moore instructed the staff to investigate cost sharing strategies to continue to lower costs while maintaining levels of service by working with other agencies such as the Visitor’s Bureau, where required Public Education and Public Involvement may be incorporated into outreach efforts highlighting some of the Districts projects that lend themselves to other activities such as ecotourism at Margaret Peak Preserve, Lake Avenue Stream Restoration and in the future the Ge**er-Becket Stream and Wetland Restoration sites which all provide stormwater benefits as well as habitat to attract birders and other outdoor recreationalists.
