To implement the Lorain County Solid Waste Management Plan by educating and encouraging recycling efforts, waste reduction and litter prevention in Lorain County. The Lorain County Solid Waste Management District is governed by the Lorain County Board of Commissioners and is advised by a Solid Waste Policy Committee.

♻️ Don’t miss the FIRST EVER Lorain County Beautiful Day Freon Appliance Roundup Event THIS SATURDAY!!

This is a ONE DAY ONLY opportunity for Lorain County residents to safely dispose of freon-containing appliances.

📅 Saturday, May 16, 2026 (Lorain County Beautiful Day)
🕘 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
📍 Lorain County Collection Center
540 S. Abbe Road, Elyria
(*south parking lot*)
Do not enter the center with your appliance

Accepted freon appliances include:
✔️ Refrigerators
✔️ Air Conditioners
✔️ Dehumidifiers
✔️ Deep Freezers
✔️ Mini Fridges

🚗 Easy drive-through drop-off
🌭 Hot dogs available from 11 AM – 1 PM
🏭 The Sustainability Learning Center will also be open for tours!

The Collection Center will also be open normal business hours (9AM - 3PM) for Lorain County residents to drop off additional accepted materials.

Hey Firelands FFA / The Firelands Falcons High School, THANK YOU for coming to the Lorain County Collection Center to bring in all the plastic grocery bags you’ve been collecting for our recycling ♻️ contest and letting us show you around!

Keep those plastic grocery bags coming in! The recycling contest runs through May 16th!

The winning schools have a chance to win benches or a picnic table made from recycled materials!

Lorain County Beautiful Day is coming up on Saturday, May 16!

This county-wide cleanup and beautification day takes place every year on the 3rd Saturday of May, and we’re already getting excited to plan another day dedicated to keeping Lorain County clean, green, and beautiful 💚

Whether you’re an individual, family, business, or community group, we’d love for you to get involved. If you’re interested in participating, reach out to Brandi at [email protected]
for all the details you’ll need to sign up.

⭐ Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops: Participants will receive a special patch for taking part!
