More people in Lorain County are stepping in to reverse overdoses, and it’s working! Here is the progress we’re seeing:
-Nearly 3 in 10 overdose emergencies in 2024 were reversed by a bystander before first responders arrived.
-Fewer people are dying from fentanyl overdoses compared to just a few years ago.
This life-saving change is linked to more people having naloxone (a safe, easy-to-use medication) and knowing how to use it. Lorain County Public Health and partners—including the Rural Response Network and the Mental Health, Addiction & Recovery Services Board—are making naloxone easy to get, so people can be ready to act in critical moments.
If you believe in being prepared, get a free naloxone rescue kit near you.
