Feedback from our residents called for the City to begin to assist with transportation, in particular for our seniors. This past summer, the City of Elyria purchased a 12 passenger van to begin this journey. So far, the van has been used for OurElyria tours, land use planning, and more.

Last week, the City of Elyria provided transportation from the RJ Gordon senior housing facility to the Thomas O. Shores South Recreation for The Active People (TAPs) Program. This allowed seniors with transportation challenges to be able to participate in TAPs.

The TAPs Program is designed for mature Elyrian residents eager for physical activity and community involvement. Program activities are FREE for Elyria residents, sponsored through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds.

To see the calendar for TAPs, visithttps://www.cityofelyria.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/TAP_December_Calendar_2023.pdf and contact Parks and Recreation to learn more.
