Vavra Park is closed due to flooding. The creek has come over the bank and is filling the low-lying areas.

We ask the public to avoid this and all flooded areas in town, it is dangerous and can be unpredictable.

At the recommendation of Council at the June 1 meeting, additional modifications have been made to the city Fence Ordinance currently under review. A public hearing and first reading was held on June 1 and a second reading will be completed at the upcoming June 15 council meeting. City Hall will be open until 3pm today, Wednesday June 10, for anyone needing a place to cool down or avoid the potentially severe weather moving into the area.

The city recently completed a bridge inspection and load rating for the Rogers Creek Road Bridge. The results lead to a load rating of 5 TONS to be posted on the bridge. This basically means anything beyond a standard passenger vehicle will need to use an alternative route. At the next council meeting on June 15th the city engineer will be presenting information on the bridge to council and discussing options for improvements.

Starting today, join our Ely Crew for an afternoon of Hike & Play every Tuesday & Thursday in June from from 1-2:30pm at City Park! Grab a friend and enjoy this free, fun-filled program where you'll start with a hike along the Cedar Valley Nature Trail, then head back to the park for group activities like kickball, chalk, playground games and more - led by Parks & Recreation staff. It's the perfect way to get active, explore and have a blast outdoors this summer 🌿⚾️⚽️
