Recently, the Kentucky League of Cities conducted a rigorous safety and liability review of the Elsmere Police Department. This review helps our agency to make Elsmere a safer place to live and work, while also reducing losses.

We are pleased to announce our agency again scored 100% on the review. Chief Wood and Lt. Klaiss, pictured above with KLC representative, Brian Nunn, gratefully accepted the results of this review earlier this month.

Today as we continue to highlight the women of Elsmere Police Department for Women’s History Month, we’d like to introduce you to Officer Amber Ford. Officer Ford joined the Elsmere Police Department in September of 2021. She began her law enforcement career with the Northern Kentucky University Police Department in 2019. She grew up in Kenton County and graduated from Simon Kenton High School before earning her associate degree in law enforcement.
Officer Ford is currently assigned to our patrol department. In 2023, Officer Ford was recognized by Chief Wood for her dedication to impaired driving enforcement. And, in late 2024, she received the Governor’s Award for impaired driving enforcement. Officer Ford holds both Advanced DUI certifications and is ARIDE (Advanced Roadside Impairment Driving Enforcement) certified. Additionally, Officer Ford is CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) certified.
Officer Ford’s infectious smile, positive outlook, proactive policing, and dedication to keeping our citizens safe, especially on the roads, makes her an invaluable member of our agency.
Amber enjoys spending time with her family and her adorable and well-loved dogs. She also likes to travel and attend concerts. She is a supporter of our hometown sports teams and is a fan of both the Reds and the Bengals.
Feel free to say hello and chat with Officer Ford when you see her out and about on patrol!

In honor of Women’s History Month we are taking time to highlight the wonderful women at the Elsmere Police Department. I would like to take the time to introduce everyone to Michelle Robinson-Wilson. Michelle is a civilian that is in charge of our records department. Some of her many duties include handling all open records requests, establishing best practices with regards to records management, retention and redaction, serving as a liaison between our agency and the courts to ensure efficient delivery of discovery materials, and acting as a sounding board and surrogate big sister for the entire police department. When Michelle isn’t at work, she is a voracious reader, enjoys traveling with her husband of 21 years, Stephen, and playing trivia. Before working at Elsmere, Michelle worked for the Covington Police Department for 28 years. Without Michelle, the Elsmere Police Department wouldn’t be nearly as efficient, or fun!

PSA: Someone is posting that 3642 Mitten Drive in Elsmere is available to rent. The scammer requests a deposit to secure the rental, before seeing the residence. The house is not for rent, it was just sold.
