Advanced healthcare shouldn’t require a trip far from home.

I’m proud to have helped facilitate a grant that brought an advanced cardiac CT scanner to Long Island Jewish Valley Stream, giving our community greater access to cutting-edge cardiac technology at our local hospital.

This investment is about more than a new piece of equipment. It means better access to advanced heart imaging, earlier detection of potential heart disease, and more options for patients to receive the care they need close to home.

Long Island Jewish Valley Stream hospital welcomed the addition of new cardiac imaging technology with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Friday — an investment designed to expand access to advanced heart imaging for patients in the South Shore and Southeast Queens communities.

Today, New York’s Local Cops, Local Crimes Act takes effect, ending 287(g) agreements that deputize local law enforcement to carry out federal immigration enforcement.

This law is an important step toward maintaining trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve, while ensuring New York taxpayer dollars and local resources stay focused on local public safety.
