🎨Calling all artists! Chalk Talk with Summer is THIS SATURDAY from 12-2pm following the Chalk It Up for our Youth workshop!
This event is open to the public at the Arnot Art Museum and we encourage all of our artists to stay and learn more about street painting!

For 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿!

An all-experience-levels chalk art workshop.
30-minute presentation with Q&A, followed by hands on practice.
𝘼𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 ... 𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙁𝙍𝙀𝙀 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙛𝙪𝙣.

Led by Museum Programs Manager Summer Small—Best-in-Show winner at Dogwood Arts Chalk Walk 2025 and Best-in-Show at the Elmira Street Painting Festival 2025. Summer will explore the vibrant history of street painting, tracing its origins back to the Madonnari chalk artists of 16th-century Italy and following its evolution to Elmira’s own celebrated festival.

Guests will also have the opportunity to head outdoors and try chalk art for themselves. Summer will demonstrate her favorite techniques and insider tips, including the pounce method, color layering and payout techniques, and essential supplies for successful street painting. 𝘈𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳’𝘴 𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘰.

ELMIRA! You’ve got a place to compost! Bring your food scraps to the Wisner Market in Wednesdays this summer. Look for the purple bin.
Your food scraps can turn into soil!

Benefits of composting:
1- Diverting food waste from your trash makes your garbage wayyyyyy less stinky.
2- the decomposition of food in landfills emits methane. You can curb greenhouse gases through composting.
3- you create healthy delicious soil that is returned back the earth and is wonderful for gardening.

In between markets, store your food scraps in a baggie in the freezer 🙂
