Led by Museum Programs Manager Summer SmallโBest-in-Show winner at Dogwood Arts Chalk Walk 2025 and Best-in-Show at the Elmira Street Painting Festival 2025. Summer will explore the vibrant history of street painting, tracing its origins back to the Madonnari chalk artists of 16th-century Italy and following its evolution to Elmiraโs own celebrated festival.
Guests will also have the opportunity to head outdoors and try chalk art for themselves. Summer will demonstrate her favorite techniques and insider tips, including the pounce method, color layering and payout techniques, and essential supplies for successful street painting.
