✨Classroom Spotlight✨ This week we visited Mrs. Rider’s Reach classes!

This week, students in each class worked hard to create projects for the Spring Celebration of Learning.

In ELA, 3rd graders used the SCAMPER method to turn an everyday object into a brand new invention, 4th graders created their own unique Sonnets, and 5th graders designed Literary Food Trucks based on a novel of their choice.

In math, 3rd graders designed a New Zoo using formulas for Area and Perimeter, 4th graders created an Aquatic Center using formulas for Volume, and 5th graders crafted a Stained Glass Window using formulas for the Circumference and Area of a Circle.

Students are excited to share their works and talents at the Spring Celebration of Learning on Thursday, May 7th.

Classroom Spotlight! ✨ Take a look at all of the exciting things happening in Library with Mrs. Talbot!

Field students have borrowed nearly 20,000 books from our library so far this year!

In Kindergarten, students designed a beanstalk to support Jack’s magic egg. In first grade, students began researching various animal habitats. Second graders worked to explore how Dr. King drew inspiration from Gandhi’s non-violent protests. The third graders spent time learning about the legacy of Julius Rosenwald. They also spent time learning how to measure weather! Fourth graders became protégé architects as they learned about Frank Lloyd Wright. Finally, the fifth graders designed and created special book bags for our first-grade students!

The results for the Literary March Madness Final Four are available for our intermediate student readers.

Classroom Spotlight! ✨ Swipe through to see all the fun things happening in Mrs. Keefe’s 2nd grade classroom!

It was a busy week in 2nd grade! In math, they finished up their module on the Foundations of Multiplication and Division. Students worked in groups to explain how they knew if a number was odd or even. To kick off Module 7 on Length, Money, & Data, they read the book The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors - an instant favorite! The kids then battled someone in 10 rounds of Rock, Paper, Scissors and graphed the results. In Social Studies, students are working on a project where the kids are creating a detailed drawing of a house in a particular environment around the world (i.e. island, rural area, city, desert, etc) They are also working on a writing piece to go with their house. They will be putting all of their pages together to create a class book. Keep up the great work, 2nd graders!

• Emotional: Calms minds, boosts confidence, and teaches perseverance
• Physical: Strengthens fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
• Cognitive: Improves focus, sequencing, and problem-solving
Plus, students feel proud creating something real with their hands. Calm, creative, and confidence-building—yes please. 💛

The first graders sure were busy this week! In Science students learned about different types of bird beaks and pretended to be birds as they gathered food. They also learned about camouflage by making moths and hiding them around the classroom. In Math they used dimes and pennies to learn about place value and tens and ones. During Reading students explored a new book and learned how animals use the same body parts in different ways. Finally, they enjoyed some indoor recess time. What a great week!
