This Drinking Water Week, we recognize the dedicated professionals who operate and maintain drinking water systems all over the world. Behind the scenes, water professionals are doing this work so the water at your tap remains safe and reliable.

The Commission is proud of our employees who work tirelessly in supporting the homes, schools, businesses, and community services in DuPage County that depend on the continued delivery of Lake Michigan water every single day.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the DWC booth this Saturday at the SCARCE Growin’ Green Garden Market. We had a wonderful, sunny Saturday afternoon handing out shower timers, leak detection tablets, and rain gauges—simple tools to help our visitors save water, lower their utility bills, and protect our shared resources

And a big thank you to SCARCE for organizing such a wonderful event and for letting us participate.

DWC would like to thank the students of Benet Academy who joined us yesterday for a presentation and tour of our facility. We hope everyone enjoyed a closer look at how DWC delivers safe, reliable drinking water to DuPage County, and maybe even sparked an interest in a future within the Water Industry.

🌍💧 Although 71% of the Earth is covered in water, only 3% of that is freshwater—and even less is readily available for us to use. That makes protecting our water supply not just important, but essential.

This Earth Day, DWC encourages everyone to think about the role water plays in your daily life and brainstorm simple changes you can make to help conserve it. Visit here for ideas on how you can conserve water at home! https://dpwc.org/conservation/

The DuPage Water Commission had an amazing time connecting with the 6th graders of Jay Stream Middle School in Carol Stream for Water Immersion Day. Together we explored water usage at home and brainstormed small changes we could make to our daily routine that can have a big impact.

The day was kicked off by Chairman Jim Zay and Mayor Frank Saverino, who gave opening remarks on where Carol Stream gets their water and the importance of water conservation.
Thank you to SCARCE for setting up this wonderful event and to the students of Jay Stream Middle School for being such an enthusiastic and thoughtful group - the future of water is in great hands! 💦 👏

This World Water Day, we highlight Water and Gender - recognizing the global inequalities tied to limited access to safe drinking water and sanitation. From collecting water to caring for family members impacted by waterborne illness, women and girls are disproportionately affected by water scarcity.
