York/Butterfield tomorrow (Tuesday).

Plan ahead and use caution as City of Elmhurst crews repair a water main at Butterfield Road and York Road on Tuesday, January 6, starting between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Crews will close two lanes while keeping traffic moving through the intersection, and drivers should expect delays. The repair is expected to take about five to six hours—see the map for details.

Welcome to Elmhurst!

A craft beer maker in St. Charles, 93 Octane Brewery, is opening a much larger location in Elmhurst and eyeing a broader expansion.

93 Octane is operated by Pride Stores, a St. Charles-based chain of gas station convenience stores. It opened its first taproom in 2019, a 20-seat bar attached to a Pride store selling BP fuel in St. Charles. Last spring, 93 Octane opened a production facility and expanded its taproom to try to accommodate growth. But it has outgrown its space once again.

The brewery needed more space to produce beer for distribution and for its taprooms, said Mario Spina, CEO and owner of Pride Stores' parent, Parent Petroleum. “Let’s find a place we can really showcase our beer.”

The brewery found that in Elmhurst. The new location, set to open in about a month, seats 400 people inside and out. The 200-seat patio also has room for live music and games. There’s a full bar upstairs, with room for private parties. There’s also a full kitchen, and besides beer, there will be cocktails, sodas with housemade syrups, wagyu burgers, Friday fish fries, and more.

The City of Elmhurst is participating in the Homes for a Changing Region Program which helps municipal leaders understand how well the housing needs and preferences of their residents and workforce are being met, and what strategies municipalities within the region have taken to address similar needs while preserving and enhancing the character of their community.

The City invites all who live or work in Elmhurst to take part in this process by completing a community survey. The survey, which is anonymous and takes about 10 minutes to complete, asks about how well housing in Elmhurst meets your needs and preferences, what housing options are in demand, and what improvements or additions to the local housing stock may benefit the community.

Holiday Overnight Parking Permission
We’re suspending enforcement of the City’s overnight parking ordinance for today’s Independence Day holiday to accommodate out-of-town guests and individuals who may choose to use an alternate mode of transportation home after a party/gathering.

Vehicles can park overnight on City streets starting tonight July 4, 2025 through the morning of July 5, 2025.

Overnight parking enforcement will begin again at 3 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025. Overnight parking permission does not allow motorists to park in violation of posted parking signs or during snow events.

Please enjoy a safe and responsible holiday.

Very important information below regarding e-scooters and e-bikes.

Parents-
The Elmhurst Police Department wants to inform you of a recent state law that went into effect last fall regulating E-scooters throughout Illinois. We hope to educate parents about the new law so they can protect their children and prevent accidents.

1) E-scooters are not permitted for use on public streets, sidewalks or paths by anyone in Elmhurst. (e-scooters can be fast and even less visible than bicycles due to their small size, drivers and cyclists can't easily see them so it's dangerous).

2) In some cities that permit E-scooters (like Chicago), state law now requires riders to be age 18 or older since riders need to obey traffic laws like stop signs.

3) To put it simply, your children can't legally ride electric scooters on public streets/sidewalks/paths in Elmhurst, so don't permit them to. For more information see this from the City of Elmhurst and Illinois State Law 625 ILCS 5/11-1518.
