🚨 Community Assistance Requested 🚨

The Ellwood City Police Department is investigating multiple attempted vehicle thefts/vehicle break-ins that occurred overnight in the area of 300 and 400 block of Ninth Street and the 1200 block of Crescent Avenue.

At this time, Kia vehicles and similar makes/models appear to have been specifically targeted.

Residents in these areas are asked to review any home security camera, doorbell camera, or surveillance footage from overnight and into the early morning hours. If you observe any suspicious persons, vehicles, or activity, please contact the Ellwood City Police Department.

As a reminder, please ensure your vehicles are locked, valuables are removed from plain view, and keys/key fobs are not left inside vehicles.

ELLWOOD CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT – COMMUNITY NOTICE

The Ellwood City Police Department has recently received complaints regarding the use of “Orbeez Guns” and similar toy gel-blaster style guns within local parks and playground areas.

While these items are often marketed as toys, they can still cause injury, property damage, and create unnecessary fear or panic when used irresponsibly. We have received reports of individuals being shot with these items who were not participating in any game or activity.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their children about the responsible use of these devices and respecting others who do not wish to be involved.

Please be advised of the following:

• Individuals using Orbeez guns or similar items to shoot uninvolved persons, vehicles, animals, homes, or other property may be subject to criminal charges or citations.
• Any reckless, disorderly, or harassing behavior in our parks may result in police action.
• Individuals bringing these items to playgrounds or using them inappropriately within park facilities may be subject to removal and trespassed from the playground or park area.

What may seem like a harmless prank can quickly escalate into a dangerous situation, especially when these items resemble real fi****ms.

We ask all parents to help ensure our parks remain safe and enjoyable for everyone.
