Today’s speaker was Kate Kana, Assistant Professor of International Business & Logistics at Maine Maritime Academy and the founder of Maine's Young Entrepreneurs Market.

Kate has spent her career combining business, logistics, and maritime operations. Before joining Maine Maritime Academy, she co-founded and operated successful charter businesses still operating in Castine Harbor, celebrating its 18th year in business; worked as an at-sea educator teaching navigation and seamanship; and gained hands-on experience in cargo operations and logistics both in the United States and abroad, having sailed to the remote Cook Islands delivering cargo. She holds a Master's degree in International Logistics Management from Maine Maritime Academy and is passionate about helping others develop the confidence and skills to succeed in business.

That passion inspired her to launch Maine's Young Entrepreneurs Market. What began as a small community event in Castine has quickly grown into a regional program spanning multiple communities and providing nearly 90 young entrepreneurs with the opportunity to start businesses, market their products, manage money, build confidence, and give back to their communities.

The Noontime Rotary Club of Ellsworth joins Rotarians across Maine and Québec in mourning the tragic passing of our District Governor, Serge Poulin.

We send our heartfelt condolences to Serge’s family, friends, and members of our District 7790 Rotary family during this difficult time.

We will honor Serge’s legacy through our continued service in Rotary.

Rest in peace, Serge. You left an indelible mark on Rotary and your community.

Lily Alley and Cameron Conners represented Ellsworth High School at today's Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic. Lily was the top fundraising cheerleader, raising $10,000+ for the Shriner's Hospitals. Cameron also raised $2,600+. Great job by these two! EHS EAGLE PRIDE🦅🦅

Today was our first official meeting of the 2026/2027 Rotary year. We began by thanking Past President Lorianne Jackson for her service and commitment to our club and presented her with a plaque. President, Jennifer Saunders, inducted our new slate of officers to the board and enthusiastically inducted two new members, Brittaney Shults, with Franklin Savings Bank and Rachel Cowperthwaite, with Bangor Savings Bank. Welcome to both! We are excited for a new year full of growth and commitment to our community.

The Noontime Rotary Club of Ellsworth held its second annual golf tournament at Lucerne Golf Course on Friday, June 12th. The Club would like to thank the area businesses who sponsored this event and the many who made it a big success. The fundraiser was held to support the ongoing charitable giving conducted by Noontime Rotary. One of our main service projects is mentoring 12-16 Ellsworth High School juniors and seniors during the school year. We also spearheads an early childhood literacy program, providing books to second grade classrooms in the area, as well as awarding 2-3 scholarships to high school seniors annually.

Today our Noontime Rotary of Ellsworth High School Mentoring Program made a donation of snacks and other personal care items to Ellsworth High School.

Our Ellsworth High School Mentoring Students have created an ongoing community service project to support their fellow students by partnering with local businesses and community members to provide snacks and personal care items that are of need.
