After the recent loss of this amazing musician and humanitarian, what better way to honor Dolly Parton's legacy than help spread the word about the Imagination Library available right here in Ellsworth, thanks to Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services. Our community signed on to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in 2021 to give our children the best start in life. Inspired by Dolly Parton’s own dad, who couldn’t read or write. While our hearts are incredibly sad today, we’re more inspired than ever to continue this important mission. Together, we are building a brighter future for our children. Thank you for supporting our work and Dolly’s legacy.

This month's Staff Pick comes from Caroline. "The Professor and the Madman by Simon Wi******er is just as its subtitle describes "a tale of murder and insanity" with the history of the making of the Oxford English dictionary thrown in. This book would make a perfect companion read to The Dictionary of Lost Words (September's Morning Book Club pick) or if you love non-fiction that reads like a novel, this one is for you. It isn't often that a book sticks with you over 25 years after you've read it, but this one did for me."

Have you checked out the book sale? If so, check again! We are adding books regularly, so the selection continues to change as long as they last. Titles include adult fiction, inspirational fiction, romance and books on CD. Freewill donations go to the Friends of the Ellsworth Public Library.

There are just a few more days to collect stickers from libraries, fill out entry forms at the library for every seven libraries visited and turn them in to be eligible for prizes! Last day for entries is Monday, August 31.

If you’d like to continue your Explore MORE adventures without prizes, you can keep your passport and continue to collect stickers all year.
