🚣 New Connecticut Law for Unregistered Paddlecraft 🚣

Under Connecticut Public Act 25-60, owners of unregistered vessels, including kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards, are now required to display current owner contact information on or attached to their vessel while operating on Connecticut waters.

This requirement helps first responders quickly identify vessel owners and reduces unnecessary search and rescue operations when unattended watercraft are found.

Learn more and request a DEEP identification sticker here:
https://portal.ct.gov/deep/boating/safety/if-found-sticker

Residents may also obtain the new identification stickers from the Ellington Marine Patrol Unit on Saturdays and Sundays at Crystal Lake while supplies are available.

Stay safe and enjoy Connecticut’s waterways responsibly.

The "If Found" sticker for manually propelled and other non-registered boats was designed to help save lives, recover missing property, and reduce the time, effort and resources expended on non-emergency search and rescues.

We had a great time at the Indian Valley YMCA event connecting with members of our community here in Ellington!

Ellington Resident Troopers and Ellington Police Officers were proud to provide Child ID Kits to help families stay prepared and informed in an emergency. We also hosted a Touch-a-Truck experience with our police cruiser, giving kids an up-close look at the equipment we use every day.

One of the highlights of the event was a live K-9 demonstration by K-9 Apollo and his handler, showcasing the skill, training, and teamwork that goes into our K-9’s.

Thank you to the Indian Valley YMCA for hosting such a well-organized event and to everyone who came out to participate!
