A note from Director, Elisabeth Mallin:
As we prepare for the end of the year, I’m grateful for the things we’ve accomplished in the past year and are planning for the year to come. We’re opening our doors more and more for tours and programs, we launched our new website in the summer (www.carrolltonhall.org, check it out!), and hosted events in collaboration with our on- and off-site partners. All this while continually uncovering the stories of the people who breathed life into Carrollton Hall so many years ago.
Highlights from our summer include a new partnership with the Descendants of Jesuit Enslavement Historical and Genealogical Society and a visit from the Chesapeake Chapter of the Vernacular Architecture Forum. We’ll continue to connect with community organizations and create opportunities for shared learning and repair in the New Year. On the research front, we made great strides in understanding the original landscape around the house, including missing outbuildings and the construction of the retaining wall, thanks to an extensive ground penetrating radar study. While there is still much to learn, it’s incredible to have this new information about and from the very ground surrounding Carrollton Hall.
You're invited to visit our website to sign up for email updates from us: www.carrolltonhall.org
If you’d like to see the house decorated for the season, our next open house tour will be Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. Please sign up on our website. Whether you follow our work from near or far, I want to wish you a very peaceful holiday season.
