Mike Betts, Grand Pappy of our detachment, passed peacefully yesterday midday sleeping in his lounge chair. Vicky mentioned he was asleep and breathing when she left for chores and came home to find him in the roughly same place but passed away.

So, as planned - he went peacefully in his sleep "with his boots on". The Dr's wanted him on oxygen, but Vicky said his decline was pretty rapid and a relief.

There are no funeral arrangements at this time and he is being cremated. His wish is for his ashes to spread in a glenn in Scotland. Vicky is working through that. Otherwise, a possible event in mid-July but nothing settled yet. More information to follow when available.

May the Heavenly Streets be guarded by the Hard Charging Marine, Michael Betts.
