This evening at the friary the Shrine of Saint The Shrine of St. Anthony hosted our third in a weekly series of Lenten Evening Prayer/Vespers/Holy Hour with Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction.

This weeks prayers were preside over by Friar-(transitional) Deacon Beto Bravo. Friary Beto gave a powerful homily as he spoke of the Christian need for personal growth and holy cultivation as followers of the Lord Jesus!

Please join us next week and for the remaining Sundays of Lent starting with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 4:00 p.m. (with confessions available at that time) and then Vespers starting at 5:00 p.m. The service is usually concluded with light refreshments and time for fellowship in the friary library. All are welcome!

— Jesus, the Good Shepherd

*April 28th, the Fifth Sunday of Easter

*May 5th, the Sixth Sunday of Easter
— Jesus tells us to "Remain in his Love"

*April 12th, the Ascension of the Lord
— Proclaim the Gospel to Every Creature

*April 19th, the Feast of Pentecost
— Receive the Holy Spirit!

Dish washing after supper:

Our friars aspire to mutual love and a commitment to serve others! We hope this is made evident in the way we joyfully embrace the everyday, ordinary activities of our Christian and Franciscan lives!

“Regarding mutual charity, you have been taught by God to love one another; indeed you do this for all your sisters and brothers.

Nevertheless we urge you to progress even more, and to aspire to live peaceful lives, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your own hands, as you have been instructed.”

(Cf. 1 Thessalonians 11:9-11).

From the time the Saint Joseph Cupertino Friary opened around 1930, thousands of Franciscan novices, student-friars, and solemnly professed friars (and quite a few Franciscan sisters as well) have called this place “home.”

The Paschal Triduum has begun!

This afternoon at 4:00 p.m., we began the Triduum at St Joseph's Nursing Home with a beautiful Mass of the Lord’s Supper! Many of the residents, and the Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate who administer the home, came together in the chapel for the celebration.

After the Mass, the sisters gave me an “Easter basket” to take back to the friars of the Conventual Franciscan Friary of St. Joseph Cupertino. It’s filled with treats and traditional Polish Easter foods! Yum!!
