To all of our Youth Squad members, it was with much thought and some apprehension, I made the very hard choice to resign from EFARS. Due to my own health issues and those of my mother (who passed on May 11th), I had to lighten my load of responsibilities. It has been my extreme pleasure to work with each of you and see tremendous growth. One of the greatest things (in my opinion) is being able to give the gift of self, and reach out to others. Thank you for your service to the community! It is very much appreciated.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation to expand the state’s Move-Over Law to include volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers.
According to the governor’s office, the measure requires drivers to slow down and move over a lane when approaching a vehicle with flashing blue or green lights that are operated by volunteer firefighters or ambulance workers involved in a roadside emergency.
“Our first responders risk their lives day in and day out, often putting their own safety and well-being in jeopardy, in order to protect their communities and their fellow New Yorkers,” Governor Cuomo said. “This new law will help ensure that first responders are protected from avoidable hazards when responding to a roadside emergency.”
Previously, the Move-Over law only applied to drivers approaching stopped police, emergency, or hazard vehicles with flashing red and white or amber lights.

** THE TRIP YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR **
On Friday, May 20th, we will gather @ our squad building @ 6pm SHARP....we will board an ambulance, and head to the Kingston 911 call center. There, you will put faces with the voices on the pager/scanner, and see how the calls are dispatched once someone connects w/ 911. It's both educational, and interesting. Permission slips will be in your mailbox, and please bring $15, as we go out to eat when the tour is over. Margie~(Youth Advisor) Any questions? Call Arnold, Michelle, or me.
