Later next week the Village of Ellenville will be submitting a NY PLAYS Grant application to add upon the new large play structure project coming to Berme Road Park. This is in addition to the generous funding this past fall from Assemblyman Brian Maher and The Gluszak Family.

Our PLAYS application will be primarily based around a complete reconstruction of the playground surface, with a new American Disabilities In-Fill compliant play surface throughout the whole park. Separately new swing sets with ADA features and fencing around the entire perimeter will round out the project.

Together, these to combined projects will create a completely overhauled Playground. **Rendering is of one of two proposals**

PUBLIC HEARING
VILLAGE OF ELLENVILLE, ULSTER COUNTY
2026 CFA APPLICATION FOR OFFICE OF COMMUNITY RENEWAL
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS

The Village of Ellenville will hold a hearing on May 26, 2026 at 6:15 PM at the Ellenville Government Center, 2 Elting Court, Ellenville, New York 12428 for the purpose of hearing public comments on the Village of Ellenville’s community development needs, and to discuss the possible submission of one or more Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications for the 2026 Program Year.

The CDBG program is administered by the New York State Office of Community Renewal (OCR), and will make available to eligible local governments approximately $20 million for the 2026 program year for housing, economic development, public facilities, public infrastructure, and planning activities, with the principal purpose of benefitting low/moderate income persons. The hearing will provide further information about the CDBG program and will allow for citizen participation in the development of any proposed grant applications and/or to provide technical assistance to develop alternate proposals. Comments on the CDBG program or proposed project(s) will be received at this time. The hearing is being conducted pursuant to Section 570.486, Subpart I of the CFR and in compliance with the requirements of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended.

At the hearing the Village will describe types of grant assistance available from the NYS Office of Community Renewal and will seek comments and suggestions from the public as to proposed uses of Community Development Block Grant funds. The types of activities that may be undertaken with Community Development Block Grant program funds may include housing, economic development, public facilities, public infrastructure, and planning activities, with the principal purpose of benefitting low/moderate income persons.

Draft application(s) for Community Development Block Grant assistance including possible Public Infrastructure, Public Facilities and Planning applications will be discussed. The Village is considering a program year 2026 CFA Public Infrastructure application in an amount not to exceed $1,500,000 for replacement of the Westwood Avenue Water Storage Tank that serves the Village of Ellenville. The proposed project will primarily benefit low and moderate income persons.

Documents related to the proposed Public Infrastructure project that will be reviewed at the public hearing will be available for public inspection at office of the Village Clerk by request and at the Village website https://www.villageofellenville.com/ on or before May 22, 2026.

The Ellenville Government Center is accessible to persons with disabilities. If special accommodations are needed for persons with disabilities, those with hearing impairments, or those in need of translation from English, those individuals should contact Village Clerk Michelle Booth, Ellenville Government Center, 2 Elting Court, Ellenville, New York 12428 845-647-7080 x 307 or by email at [email protected] at least one week in advance of the hearing date to allow for necessary arrangements.

Message from the Mayor:
"We are very pleased to announce that the Village of Ellenville has been awarded $200,000 in funding to support Pro-Housing planning initiatives.

This past November the Village of Ellenville submitted an application for the Technical Assistance to grow Pro-Housing Communities Grant, which will allow communities to analyze, plan, and initiate actions in support of housing. This funding source was made available due to our previous efforts this past year to become a Pro-Housing Certified community by New York State.

Housing affordability is one of the great challenges of our time, as the promise of the post-war American dream has slipped further away for many. We will look at every option to help spur thoughtful development within our village." 🏡🏘️
