What can be revealed when you put on a mask? In their Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibition “Pierrot”, Bri Dumenigo explores what they can reveal about themselves while disguised as their clown persona “Monty”. Through photography, this persona becomes a full character themselves. Exploring topics such as isolation, LGBTQIA+ inequalities, and self-expression.

Being in front of the camera is vulnerable but the character Monty allowed me to be more expressive behind the facade of makeup and stage.” Dumenigo explains. “I was comfortable enough to express how I was feeling through Monty.”

Dumenigo grew up fascinated by both cosplay and clowns, bringing these two loves together when they started photography in college. Hidden beneath a colorful, eye-catching disguise, inner sadness and anger shine through within the posing of Monty, pushing the clown aesthetic with props like balloon dogs. Using a digital camera and bright color gel lights they are able to capture these images.

What if a painting could feel like stepping into a living dream? Beka E. Pruitt creates immersive worlds shaped by play, curiosity, and connection in her Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibition “Nightingale”. Through vibrant color, fairytale-inspired imagery, reflective adornments, and glowing elements, her paintings invite viewers to slow down and experience art as presence. Each piece becomes a sensory landscape where intuition leads and meaning unfolds gently over time.
Beka describes painting as “a language of the soul.” She works in transparent layers, building depth gradually through a meditative process. “Each layer reflects a layer of life,” Beka shared. “Marks are added, subtracted, rebuilt, softened, and transformed.” Each piece draws from multiple sources of inspiration. Her love of children’s books began in early childhood. Growing up on a rural Pennsylvania farm felt like living in a time capsule. She bonded with animals at an early age and developed a deep appreciation for their intrinsic qualities. Vintage objects and her love of textiles bring a sense of comfort and nostalgia. Seasonal shifts continue to influence her visual language. Later, she embraced the mountains of Colorado and Washington. The intricacies of nature in every season inspire her dreamlike subjects. Her intuitive process allows images to evolve organically before arriving at their final form.

Rather than offering fixed narratives, Pruitt creates space for interpretation. Each painting functions as a mirror, offering resonance instead of definition. Viewers are invited to slow down, enter the sensory experience, and discover their own meaning within layered forms and luminous detail.
