Every summer, the Elko New Market Police Dept. receives increased calls regarding juveniles out past city curfew causing problems including vandalism, theft, and creating disturbances. We would like to remind all parents and guardians that the curfew (may not be present in any public place or establishment without parent, responsible adult, or guardian) for juveniles in Elko New Market is:

0-11 years of age: 9:00 PM-5:00 AM Sunday-Thursday and 10:00 PM-5:00 AM Friday-Saturday
12-14 years of age: 10:00 PM-5:00 AM Sunday-Thursday and 11:00 PM-5:00 AM Friday-Saturday
15-17 years of age: 11:00 PM-5:00 AM Sunday-Thursday and 12:00 AM-5:00 AM Friday-Saturday

There are some exceptions for juveniles out past curfew (traveling to and from employment, emergencies, etc.) see link to city ordinances regarding curfew https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/elkonewmarketmn/latest/elkonewmarket_mn/0-0-0-2897

Of note to all Parents and Guardians: It is unlawful for a parent or guardian of a juvenile knowingly, or through negligent supervision, to permit the juvenile to be in any public place or establishment within the city during the hours prohibited. Parents and guardians who knowingly allow juveniles to violate curfew may be cited. Parents and guardians are also ultimately responsible for any juveniles in their care that cause damage or commit crimes while in violation of curfew, as some have learned the hard way.

We ask that all parents and guardians in Elko New Market take the City Curfew Ordinance seriously and that you monitor your juveniles to ensure they are complying with the curfew.

We don’t want to have to wake you up to tell you to come and get your juvenile/s and that you will also be getting a bill or court notice. Have a great (and peaceful) summer!

Join neighbors across Elko New Market on Tuesday, August 4th for the 17th Annual Night to Unite in Minnesota. Sponsored by the Minnesota Crime Prevention Association, AAA of Minnesota/Iowa, and local law enforcement agencies, Night to Unite will celebrate and strengthen neighborhood and community partnerships.

Night to Unite is designed to:

Get to know one another in your neighborhood.
Build neighborhood involvement by bringing police and communities together; and
Bring awareness to crime prevention and local police department efforts.

Chief Craig Bell says, “I invite neighborhoods in Elko New Market to become involved in Night to Unite activities. This is an opportunity for neighborhoods and the community to band together, enjoy a summer evening getting to know their neighbors and police officers as well as who belongs in their neighborhoods.”

The City of Elko New Market Police Department will also be collecting donations for the Southern Valley Alliance during Night to Unite. The SVA Night to Unite flyer with a list of donation needs is provided on the City's website, link below. Bring your donations to your community block parties.

Registration for the 2026 Night to Unite is now available. To learn more and register your block party, please fill out the following online form found on our website. https://tinyurl.com/ENMNightToUnite2026
