Last night we were treated to a wonderful dinner at the fire hall. Two local families joined together to make a delicious meal and bring some fun! Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity to our Fire Department. 🚒

This year, we are proud to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Elko New Market Fire Department.

In January, we welcomed former members back to the fire hall to share a meal, reconnect with old friends, and reminisce about their years of service to our community. It was a wonderful opportunity to honor the men and women who helped build the department into what it is today.

Throughout the year, we will be celebrating and remembering the many members who have dedicated their time and talents to the Elko New Market Fire Department. This week, we were proud to unveil banners recognizing members who served 10 years or more with the department.

Watch for more stories, memories, photos, and celebrations as we honor 50 years of service, dedication, and community throughout the year.

2026 Lakeville South High School Scholarships

This year the Elko New Market Fire Department Relief Association awarded 2-$2000 scholarships to students at Lakeville South High School@. We would like to announce the winners of the Elko New Market Relief Association Scholarships, which were awarded this week:

Our first scholarship winner is Lily Launsbach. Lily is the daughter of Mike and Angela Launsbach. She will be attending Creighton University’s School of Dentistry, which focuses on service-based healthcare in the fall, on track to become a dentist.

Our second scholarship winner is Esme Young. Esme is the daughter of Michelle and Steve Young. She will be attending Winona State in the fall where she will be majoring in criminal justice/police science.

Congratulations Lily and Esme! Your dedication to serving others reflect the very values we hold as a Fire Department. We look forward to seeing the impact you will make in the years to come.

We would like to thank all the scholarship applicants. We received many outstanding applications and choosing just three was no easy task. We wish you all the best in your future plans.

This year the Elko New Market Fire Department Relief Association awarded 3-$2000 scholarships to students at New Prague High School. We would like to announce the winners of the Elko New Market Relief Association Scholarships which were awarded last night:

Our first scholarship winner is Nora Jacobson. Nora is the daughter of Tina and Ted Jacobson. She will be attending University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall where she will be majoring in Nursing

Our second scholarship winner is Rachel Bisek. Rachel is the daughter of Mike and Jamie Bisek. She will be attending Rochester Community and Technical College in the fall where she will be majoring in Radiology.

Our third scholarship winner is Karly Ophus. Karly is the daughter of Jen and Tim Ophus. She will be attending the University of Iowa in the fall where she will be majoring in Radiation Sciences to become a Pediatric Sonographer.

Congratulations Nora, Rachel and Karly! Your dedication to serving others reflect the very values we hold as a Fire Department. We look forward to seeing the impact you will make in the years to come.

The Elko New Market Fire Department is proud to award scholarships each year to students from Lakeville South and New Prague High Schools. This Thursday, we had the unique opportunity to also award a scholarship to a Farmington High School senior—and celebrate three generations.

In addition to our traditional scholarships, the department offers a Legacy Scholarship for children of ENM firefighters. This year, that opportunity became even more special as we recognized a grandson of one of our own.

Bob Hanna, a member of the department since 1992, has a grandson graduating this year from Farmington High School. Bob also serves alongside his son-in-law, Evan Steele, making this a truly meaningful moment for their family and our department.

We are proud to award this year’s Legacy Scholarship to Carson Blare, son of Jami and Jim. Carson plans to attend Bemidji State this fall, majoring in engineering.

We are excited to support Carson in his future endeavors and wish him all the best as he begins this next chapter.

We had so much fun visiting the preschool classes at Eagle View Elementary! We read books about fire safety, talked about the gear we wear, and even put it on so students could see what we look like during a fire—helping them understand not to be afraid. 👨🏻‍🚒👩🏻‍🚒

We also talked about the importance of having a home escape plan and what to do in an emergency. Afterwards, the students got to check out the fire truck up close!

We love getting out in the community, teaching, and sharing the importance of fire safety 🚒🔥
