Pages for Children is a non-profit organization committed to bringing joy and happiness to hospitalized children all over Central and North Alabama. This is done through the Creative Care Packages that P.O.C sends to terminally ill children. Also, to ensure that no child feels left out, we send books and cards to any child that is confined to the hospital. We plan to include more children's hospit
als in our mailings each month. We would also like to send more items to the children to help them understand that they have people who love them even though we don't know them. Each Creative Care Package consist of a drawing set, crayons, paint, markers, watercolors and colored pencils; a drawing paper pad; a coloring book, a puzzle book and a reading book. Each package is especially designed by age groups to ensure that each child is given items that best fit their individual need.We would love to hand deliver each gift but due to strict privacy policies at these hospitals, we are unable to. Instead, Pages for Children is represented by the nurses at each hospital. The response from the nurses has shown that our program is both needful and beneficial to the children they serve. The concept of Pages for Children was started when Olivia Hardy saw how much get well cards meant to her nephew, who was 13 at the time and had cancer. She saw how much those cards lifted his spirits, even when he had no idea who they were from. With the help of her friends and family, she started sending cards and coloring pages to sick children at various local hospitals in her area. As the years have passed, the area Pages for Children services has grown.
