War Eagle Appreciation Day is less than a month away on June 6th at Withrow Springs! Let's celebrate the War Eagle together. The beautiful War Eagle watershed accounts for one third of all water entering Beaver Lake, providing drinking water for one in every five Arkansans. To honor this incredible natural resource and foster long term stewardship, we have a full week of community events leading up to the celebration on June 6th.

The festivities kick off with the Pick Up Where You Paddle clean up from Friday, May 29th through Friday, June 5th. While enjoying the creek, show your appreciation by picking up litter along your route. Drop off and report your trash at OAR War Eagle Kayak and Campground to enter a special raffle drawing at Saturday’s main event.

On Friday evening, June 5th, join us for a free, family friendly War Eagle Movie Night from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Basham Community Center in downtown Huntsville. We are partnering with the Northwest Arkansas Land Trust to screen two local conservation films, “Bridge to War Eagle” and “One Acre at a Time,” celebrating the watershed and the people working to protect its ecological future. Free snacks will be provided.

It all leads to the main event: the 22nd Annual War Eagle Appreciation Day on Saturday, June 6th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Keith Ham Pavilion inside Withrow Springs State Park in Huntsville. This free community gathering features a complimentary lunch grilled by Arvest, raffle prizes, activities for all ages, and interactive educational booths focused on conservation, wildlife, history, and tourism. We will also have live music sponsored by the William Rufus Stephens Jr. Memorial Fund, featuring a special performance by local favorite Double Wide Trailer.

Bring your friends, family, and your love for the outdoors to celebrate community and the importance of the War Eagle watershed. For more information, visit www.beaverwatershedalliance.org/events for more details.

As Northwest Arkansas grows and weather events intensify, the Alliance is partnering with the Arkansas Department of Agriculture, the EPA, and Olsson to develop a comprehensive flood model for the Beaver Lake watershed. This tool will help cities and partners identify flooding hotspots and prioritize restoration projects where they are needed most.

While technical data is the foundation of this project, your on-site observations are the key to its success. We invite you to use our interactive map to mark areas where you have witnessed flooding events, roadway overtopping, and property impacts. By contributing your local expertise by June 15, 2026, you help us ensure this data reflects the actual needs of our watershed.
