This past Monday, our team and partners were hosted by Omaha Sports and Games in Elkhorn, NE, who generously donated their venue for the day to support our preparations for the anniversary of the April 26, 2024, tornadoes.

The Nebraska Strong Recovery Project is committed to preventing staff burnout, and this location provided an invaluable opportunity for attendees to decompress throughout the day. We believe that integrating such moments of rest and support enhances our team's ability to remain effective and compassionate while assisting those in crisis.

Thank you Omaha Sports and Games for supporting our project!

Heads up! Secure your belongings ahead of time to avoid damage!

If you have things outdoors that you'd like to keep, bring them in by Tuesday morning. Tuesday evening/overnight will be one of the windiest non-thunderstorm days in several years. Yes...we said "years". Several hours of 50 to 70 mph gusts (could be even stronger) are expected.

This past Friday, the NeStrong team, in collaboration with staff from the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center and the Department of Health and Human Services Division of Behavioral Health, participated in the Crisis Counseling Program Mid-Program Training. This session emphasized strategies for effectively engaging with individuals and communities as we reach the halfway point of our grant.

If you or someone you know is in need of outreach assistance following the April 2024 tornadoes, or if your organization is interested in partnering with us for disaster outreach services, please contact Jennifer Sanders at 402-444-6573.
