Work hard, get a raise, and... lose money? It sounds backward, but for many Indiana households, it’s a daily reality.

This is what’s known as the "benefits cliff." For the ALICE population (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), a tiny bump in pay can mean instantly losing hundreds of dollars in essential benefits like food or childcare assistance.

It’s a systemic trapdoor. No matter how perfectly you design and stick to your budget, it is challenging to get out.

Who is ALICE? It’s not one person, it’s actually 1 in 3 households right here in Indiana.

ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.

These are our neighbors, friends, and essential workers who work hard every single day but are forced to live paycheck to paycheck. They build the backbone of our community's resilience, yet a single car breakdown or medical bill can send them into a financial problem.

We can't solve a problem we don't see. Let’s get to know ALICE together.
