It is with saddened and heavy hearts that the Officer's, and Members of the Osolo Township Fire Department announce the passing of Joann E. Miller, 93, of Bristol. While Joann was not an actual firefighter, she was a lifetime member who assisted with the organization, building and staffing of the department since its inception in 1958. Many firefighters have considered her as the departmental mother of Osolo. Over the years, Joann was a planner, organizer, assisted with the creation of the by-laws of the department and served as an unofficial 911 operator, dispatcher, and chief Cook and bottle washer whenever the firefighters needed her help. She also assisted in the organization of the departments first Ladies Auxiliary. Not only was Joann an integral part of the formation of the department, her husband Harvy J. Miller and sons Jim, Jerry, and Jeff Miller all served as either Fire Chief or Assistant Chief over a period of time that would add up to over a half- century of service. Please join us in leaving a comment or memory about Joann if you have one. Her services have been entrusted to Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart and are scheduled for this Thursday, February 19th, 2026 at a time TBA. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery Bristol. Her full obit will be posted shortly on the Billings Funeral Home website.
