Tobacco Control of Elkhart County

Tobacco Control of Elkhart County Our goal is to prevent and reduce the use of all tobacco products in Elkhart County. Working towards tobacco-free policies in school districts.

Tobacco Control of Elkhart County works to:

Decrease youth smoking rates by supporting community efforts for counter tobacco point-of-sale strategies at the local level. Decrease adult smoking rates by promoting the Indiana Tobacco Quitline (1-800-QUIT-NOW) throughout the community. Protect Hooisers from exposures to secondhand smoke by supporting local and/or statewide smoke-free air ordinances

for worksites, including restaurants, bars, and gaming facilities. Implementing tobacco-free campus policies for hospitals, health care centers, mental health centers and clinics, and addiction treatment centers. Working toward smoke-free policies in multi-unit housing. The coalition works to protect and maintain local tobacco control to combat tobacco use, as well as working with community organizations to reduce tobacco use.

Today is No Menthol Sunday, a day to raise awareness about the harmful impact of menthol to***co products and encourage healthier, to***co-free lives. For decades, menthol to***co products have been heavily marketed to communities, making it easier to start smoking and more difficult to quit.

TCEC is proud to partner once again this year with St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church for No Menthol Sunday. Together, we are providing quit kits and sharing cessation resources to support individuals on their journey toward a to***co-free life.

If you or someone you know is ready to quit, help is available through Quit Now Indiana at quitnowindiana.com or 1-800-QUIT-NOW. đź’™

Día del Niño / Children’s Day Celebration

Today, we celebrate the joy, energy, and potential of every child in our community. Children deserve spaces where they can grow, play, and thrive in environments that are free from to***co and ni****ne exposure.
To***co Control of Elkhart County, believe that protecting children means protecting their right to breathe clean air at home, in cars, and in every place they learn and play. Small choices adults make today help shape healthier futures for tomorrow.
Let’s continue working together to:
- Keep homes and vehicles smoke-free and v**e-free
-Talk with youth early about the harms of ni****ne
-Model healthy choices for the next generation

If you or someone you know is ready to quit, support is available. Call Quit Now Indiana at 1-800-QUIT-NOW for free, confidential help.

Huge shoutout to our Jimtown High School VOICE Core Team! 🙌

Over the past two days, they educated 274 Jimtown Jr. High 7th and 8th graders about the real dangers of va**ng.

Their courage to lead, connect, and speak up shows just how powerful youth voices can be. Watching them step up to protect their peers is a powerful reminder of what VOICE is all about. 💙❤️

Earth Day Spotlight 🌱

In honor of Earth Day, we’re highlighting the proactive efforts at Concord High School! A big thank you to SRO John Riddle for reaching out and requesting a v**e disposal box for the school.

These boxes provide a fire-safe and secure location for v**e devices that are being confiscated on school grounds, helping prevent potential fire hazards, contamination, or devices getting back into the wrong hands.

The best part? This resource is available at no cost to any Elkhart County school upon request, and we also provide guidance for safe and proper disposal.

Let’s continue working together to protect our students, our schools, and our environment. ♻️
