A City on the Move, Service in Action, and Getting to Know Our Rotarians

Mayor Rod Roberson joined Elkhart Noon Rotary to share updates on the changes taking shape across the City of Elkhart, Indiana - Municipal Government, including improvements to downtown corridors and continued investment in areas to both the north and south. His remarks highlighted the work underway to strengthen neighborhoods, improve public spaces, and support Elkhart’s continued growth.

The meeting also celebrated service and fellowship. Kurt Dreisilker of Wellfield Botanic Gardens thanked Rotarians for their volunteerism and support of the annual Taste of the Gardens, and we introduced a new member spotlight segment with a chance to get to know fellow Rotarian Scott Puckett a little better led by interviewer Rob LaRoy.

Preparing for the Future of Healthcare in Elkhart
Elkhart Noon Rotary welcomed Kira M. Carter-Robertson, President of Elkhart General Hospital, and Michael Johnson, Vice President of Operations, for an update on Beacon Health System and its work across Elkhart County and the region. They shared current priorities and recent accomplishments focused on improving access to care, strengthening patient experience, supporting the healthcare workforce, and building community partnerships. They also gave a look ahead at the upcoming Emergency Room Department Redesign Project and how Beacon is preparing to meet the community’s changing healthcare needs.

Drawing on more than 17 years of experience working with employers and healthcare purchasers, including leadership roles with Ford Motor Company, the Kentuckiana Health Collaborative, and the Purchasers Business Group on Health, Randa shared how employers are pushing for greater transparency, better outcomes, and smarter solutions in a healthcare system that affects businesses and families across Indiana.
