As we continue to advocate for refugees and immigrants, stay up-to-date with the Immigration and Refugee Program by giving our CWS page a like and follow, where we will be moving very soon!

BIG NEWS: We’re moving! Starting next week, the Immigration and Refugee Page will be integrated into our CWS page. This page will still be available as an archive, but all new posts will be shared on CWS.

Over the years, we have built an incredible community on our Immigration and Refugee Program page. Thanks to your support, we have shared incredible stories of refugees and immigrants flourishing in their new homes, examples of ordinary people going to extraordinary lengths to make sure we uphold our legacy of welcome and responded to countless calls to action to protect each other. Thank you.

Our work will continue, and we will continue to count on you to follow us at our new Facebook home at CWS.

"Trump is saying “go back” to the mothers, fathers, and children walking north to seek protection through the legal process known as asylum. He’s saying “go back” to the men, women, and children his administration is incarcerating in jails and cages and stowing away like trash under a bridge." - Rev. John L. McCullough, President and CEO of Church World Service, comments on President Trump's cruelty at the border.

This runs counter to the Biblical call to love neighbor, welcome the stranger, and value every family.

Every minute, 20 people are newly displaced by climate change, economic crisis and political instability, according to the UNHCR. How can we help them overcome the barriers to starting new lives? TED Resident Muhammed Idris is leading a team of technologists, researchers and refugees to develop Atar, the first-ever AI-powered virtual advocate that guides displaced people through resettlement, helping restore their rights and dignity.
"Getting access to the right resources and information can be the difference between life and death," Idris says.

Yesterday, a big step in repealing Trump's Muslim ban was introduced by Democrats in the House and Senate.

“The fact that we still have this so-called Muslim travel ban on the books and being enforced is a stain on our reputation around the world,” said Senator U.S. Senator Chris C***s, “And it’s hurting real people.”

Sponsors acknowledged the bill had little chance of clearing the Senate, but it makes a statement leading up to the 2020 elections.
