Below is the excerpt for the Elkhart Truth article about the At-Large candidate for City council.

Megan Deputy Baughman - Republican candidate

A native of Elkhart, Deputy Baughman, 53, was appointed to serve on the at-large seat in September 2021 to replace the late Mary Olson. She has a record of community involvement, serving for years on the boards of organizations such as the Women’s Care Center, the Community Foundation of Elkhart County, Premier Arts and the ETHOS Innovation Center, where she is currently the CEO.

Deputy Baughman said she’s hoping to retain her spot on the council because she is “deeply committed to the well-being and progress of our community.”

“I see the potential of our city and believe that, with the right leadership and policies, we can make it an even better place to live, work and raise a family,” she said. “As an at-large member, I will represent the entire city, not just a specific district. This allows me to bring a diverse perspective to the council and consider the needs and concerns of residents from all corners of Elkhart.”

She said she believes her involvement in community organizations and her professional background have equipped her with leadership skills, and that a results-oriented approach will enable her to make a positive impact as a legislator.

“I believe in working collaboratively with fellow council members, city officials, and the community to find innovative solutions to our challenges,” she said. “I am committed to building consensus and finding common ground. I am dedicated to promoting transparency in government and being accountable to the constituents I represent.”

As an at-large member, she said she will seek input, engage with residents and provide clear communication on council decisions and actions.

“I have a clear vision for the future of Elkhart – one that focuses on sustainable growth, economic prosperity, enhanced quality of life and a sense of community pride. I am committed to working tirelessly to realize this vision,” she said.

This is so cool, we wanted to share it with you.

Mary Jess is at The Covered Bridge Festival in Bridgeton, Indiana. She brought enough of our brand new product Puffcorn to sell over the 10-day festival. However, she sold out of everything in less than 3 days, had to return to Elkhart, and made more through the night to go back to the festival and continue selling.

We're thrilled for Mary Jess; she had the courage to venture out on her own and introduce a new product to the market, and people are absolutely loving it.
