During late winter / early spring, ice conditions can be very poor and risky to be on.

Tonight we took advantage of rapidly deteriorating ice conditions and conducted ice & water rescue training. It was an ideal night with adverse conditions that created great problem solving situations.

As a follow up to receiving the Elkhart Lake Chamber of Commerce 2026 Elkhart Lake Impact Award, we would like to share some additional words.

This is an incredible honor for our department. We are very proud of what we do as a fire department but we couldn't do what we do without the support of the residents of the Village of Elkhart Lake and Town of Rhine. Thank you!

In addition, we are incredibly fortunate to have 31 dedicated firefighters who are so dedicated to our cause. Whether it is our Fireman's Picnic, Breakfast at the firehouse fundraiser or responding to many of the different emergencies we respond to, each member plays a vital role in what we do.

Finally, we must also take a moment to recognize all of the members who have volunteered with us. Since our founding in 1897 as the Elkhart Lake Hook & Ladder Company, then establishing the Elkhart Lake Fire Department one year later, these individuals have dedicated countless hours and paved the way for this department to be successful. We will continue this well into the future.

Please know that our department is committed to protecting and serving our community for years to come.

Tonight we were honored to be recognized by the Elkhart Lake Chamber of Commerce as the recipients of the 2026 Elkhart Lake Area Impact Award.

We would not even be nominated without the dedication, comittment and countless hours volunteered by our very active members.

We thank the Chamber, the Village of Elkhart Lake and everyone who supports us as we accept this award.
